About Us

Wells Place Centre is part of Eastleigh Baptist Church.  It was formally opened in October 1998, the result of the congregation of the church working together to bring about the vision God had given them over 5 or more years. In 1996 that vision was recorded as helping the church “to fulfil its mission and aim and to play a vital part in the life of the community. It is envisaged as a place that is relevant to the needs of Eastleigh today and that seeks to remain so into the new millennium.”

The centre has continued to grow over the years and today it is run by a large number of volunteers and a small number of paid staff most of whom are part of the church congregation.  The purpose statement was renewed by the church membership in 2010 and expanded to include 7 new principles which underpin how the centre is run today.  The centre’s purpose statement is:

“Wells Place Centre is an integral ministry of Eastleigh Baptist Church demonstrating the love of Jesus by serving the needs of the local community and beyond”

The 7 principles expand this statement further and include being welcoming, safe and respectful, being needs orientated, being ethical and just and run in a professional manner with Jesus at the centre of all that is done.

Volunteering at Wells Place Centre

New volunteers are always welcome. You do not need to be a member of the church congregation.   All we ask is that you are sympathetic to the church ethos, are reliable and willing to fit into the friendly team that work in the centre on a daily basis.   To apply to work in a voluntary catering or administration capacity, please use the Contact Us button or pop in for chat with Laura our Centre Manager.
